Harry Edward Styles is a twenty-eight year old English pop star, actor, and activist. He rose to fame by entering a singing contest in England called the X Factor  with four other boys from England and Ireland: Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne, and Zayn Malik at the age of sixteen. He auditioned with a Stevie Wonder song, “Isn’t she lovely.” The boys were put together as a group called One Direction and in five quick years they have become one of, if not the most popular boy bands in the world. In 2017 Styles debuted his first solo single Sign of the Times which has almost one billion views on youtube, and since then he has become ultra famous as a solo artist. Styles has become a well respected and world famous musician as well as an activist for many issues present in society.

One Direction shaped an entire generation of girls with five years worth of tours, four albums, two documentaries, and seventeen music videos. The five boys didn’t make it as solo artists, so judge Simon Cowell put the five random boys into a group. They went on to go to the final round on the X Factor where they came in third. They weren’t a typical boy band, they didn’t dress the same or have choreography on stage. The boys were so appealing because they were all their own people with the same humble backgrounds and individual personalities. They were five typical teenage boys who loved to make music and have a great time while doing so.  Their music gave so many girls around the world an outlet for confidence and self esteem. One Direction’s fans are some of the most loyal and dedicated people in the world. After the boys came third in the X Factor, the fans made sure 1D weren’t going away. Their concerts were like no other because of the boys constant comical stage presence and their interactions with their fans. One Direction never fails to tell their fans how much their support means to them and acknowledge that they wouldn’t be where they are if it weren’t for their dedicated fans. The fans changed their lives by spreading the word about the band through twitter, which made their careers take off in such a short amount of time. Fans all around the world actually make friends with each other through their shared love for One Direction. One Direction was so widely loved because they were just five normal boys with abnormal jobs. They made sure to have many laughs and good memories in everything they did. 

Harry Styles was born on February 1, 1994 in Worcestershire England. Styles is a family oriented, caring, and kind person. He is the youngest member of One Direction best known for his curly hair and his charming and cheeky personality, as well as being known for his comedic side. His bandmates have described him as the “perfect pop star.” Styles did have some experience with performing in a band, for he was a part of a band called “White Eskimo” when he was in school. With their parents being divorced, Harry and his older sister Gemma were raised by their mother Anne Twist in Holmes Chapel England. Before his rise to stardom, Styles worked in a local bakery. In his time in One Direction Harry came out to reveal that he was always scared to do anything that could potentially mess up this once in a lifetime opportunity for him and the other boys. Styles grew up a fan of many artists including Shania Twain and Fleetwood Mac.  One of Fleetwood Mac’s lead singers, Stevie Nicks has said to have a big influence on his music.  The two met in 2015 and since then have performed multiple Fleetwood Mac songs together. Harry has always been a well mannered and polite person to everyone he meets and he makes sure that his fans have an unforgettable experience when meeting him. 

Harry Styles debuted his acting career in Christopher Nolan’s war film, “Dunkirk” in 2017 about the English military trying to evacuate World War II. He also has two more films he is starring in set to be coming out in late 2022, a thriller called “Don’t Worry Darling” and a romantic drama film “My Policeman”. Styles also appeared in a marvel movie, “the Eternals” where he will be a more involved character in later movies. 

Paparazzi and magazine tabloids have made it their mission to put Styles’s love life on display, for early on in his career he was given the title of the “womanizer” in the band. Even after his band mates and himself had tried countless times to deny the unpleasant title. Although he mastered the art of dodging uncomfortable interview questions, the subject of romance still finds a way into almost every interview. Harry Styles dating history includes models: Kendall Jenner, Camille Rowe, Georgia Fowler, Sara Sampaio, Nadine Leopold, and other stars like Taylor Swift and Olivia Wilde. Harry has now been with actress Olivia Wilde since 2021. 

Harry Styles has become a very successful musician with having won forty-two awards and receiving one-hundred and nineteen nominations. Awards he has won include six teen choice awards, two Brit awards, four iHeartRadio Music awards, and many others. He is the first member of One Direction to win a Grammy as a solo artist after the group’s hiatus in 2015. Since the band’s break, Styles has released two albums; ‘Harry Styles’ and ‘Fine Line’. Fine Line has gone on to have great success with debuting Harry’s first solo album to reach the top of the US Billboard 200. He has had two sold out solo world tours for each album. To fans delight Styles played some hit one direction songs along with the songs from his albums. 

Styles and his bandmates have been on many talk shows over the years including Ellen, Jimmy Fallon, and the Jonathan Ross show. However, the band loved one show in particular, The Late Late Show with James Corden. Corden was a big fan of the boys before having them on the show. One of the best episodes of the Late Late Show was when the boys joined Corden for one of his famous skits, “Carpool Karaoke”. The skit involves James  calling the boys to help him get to work and all six men drive around the streets of Los Angeles listening to their hit songs. One Direction’s carpool Karaoke video has become one of the most watched Carpool Karaoke with almost 200 billion views on youtube. Over the years Corden and Styles have become close friends. Styles filled in for Corden on the Late Late Show when James’s wife was delivering their baby. Styles has even been seen to join the Cordens on vacation, and has been seen at a couple LA shows on Style’s tours.    

Out of all five members of One Direction, Styles has made the most impact on pop culture. From the way he dresses to what he stands for, Harry Styles is trying to change how people treat one another. The Watermelon Sugar singer has made TWPK (Treat People With Kindness) his slogan throughout the years, and fans have spread it like wildfire. Styles strives to be kind to everyone he meets and make his shows a place where everyone feels safe and accepted no matter what gender, race, or sexual orientation one identifies with. 

A key moment to Harry’s shows are when fans bring all kinds of flags and throw them up on stage for Harry to grab and wave while dancing to his songs after he says his iconic line, “If you are black, if you are white, if you are gay…I support you, I love every single one of you.” The flag he has frequently been proudly waving is the rainbow Gay Pride flag, for Styles is an active supporter for the LGBTQ+ community. Harry has helped multiple people come out as gay to their parents and loved ones at his shows. The famous pop star has also been seen at several Black Lives Matter movements in 2020 protesting for racial justice. The pop icon also donates to many charities with the earnings from his tours. 

Harry has been known for his most recognizable feature, his curly locks of hair throughout his time in One Direction. He was always described as the “one with the hair”. Each year in the band Styles’s hair grew longer and longer until he finally opened up about growing his hair out so he could donate it to an English foundation, the Little Prince Trust. Before Harry did the forbidden chop, he was famous for putting his hair in “man buns” and having the best curly hair. 

In recent years Harry has been known to express his way of barrier breaking with fashion. He has appeared in numerous campaigns and commercials for designer brand, Gucci as he has become a Gucci ambassador. For his first solo world tour, Styles wore a collection of designer suits and custom looks from Gucci. The suits soon became a staple to his tour and fans grew excited to see what introkit suit he would be wearing for their show. As his suits became famous, expectations were born for his next tour to top his first world tour through his fashion. Styles has also become famous for his chunky and bold rings and nail polish he switches up frequently. Harry has also been known to smash the toxic masculinity barriers. Styles has worn a dress and a pink ballerina tutu and posted an Instagram picture with the caption: “bring back manly men.” The pop star is setting the example that gender fluidity is okay and dresses aren’t only for women. Men can still be “manly” even though they aren’t the same as every other man on the planet. 

Harry Styles has also become known for his tattoos. The singer has 52 tattoos himself and has become an inspiration for fans to get his tattoos on themselves. Throughout the years in the band, all the boys except for Niall Horan have gotten numerous tattoos and fans have become known to make their tattoos into apparel and even get matching tattoos with the boys. Styles received another tattoo while he appeared on The Late Late Show with James Corden while playing a game of Tattoo roulette with his One Direction bandmates. They each picked a box that had either the word safe or tattoo, and Harry lost by getting the box with the word tattoo. 

Styles is releasing his third album on May 20 and his first single, ‘As It Was’ on April 1. Fans are going crazy for his new music and possible third world tour. Styles’ new single broke Spotify’s single-day streaming record. On April 2, Spotify established that “As It Was” is now the most streamed song in America in one day with 8.3 million streams. Along with America, Styles’s new song is now the most streamed song worldwide with 21.6 million streams. 

Harry Styles is arguably one of the best pop stars to be a fan of because of his roles in many important issues like racial justice and bringing awareness to toxic masculinity. He is aware that many people go through horrible things so he tries to create a beautiful environment that is all about love when you come to his shows. Styles is no doubt a natural born performer. His stage presence alone makes his shows very entertaining. The singer makes sure that even if you don’t know any of his songs, you will have a good time at his shows. Styles has been winning over fans’s hearts since 2010 and will gain many more as he continues his unprecedented career. The fans are everything to him, as he never fails to acknowledge them in everything he does. He has grown up from a cute goofy teenager to a serious pop rock musician who is known for more than just his hit music. Harry Styles has been known to hate the word “famous” because he thinks of himself as just a normal guy who loves music. He is a down to earth kind of person and will never think of himself as a celebrity. In the One Direction documentary “This is Us” the singer talked about how he hates how people use someone’s fame to describe someone rather than saying things like “he was a really nice guy” or “he was really funny”. Styles has had such great success in his career while still being able to stay the same person his family and friends from home would recognize. He is a great example of what can happen when you show the world a little bit of kindness. Harry Styles will continue to influence the world and pop culture with his music, fashion, and his activism in all kinds of pressing issues.
